Join emerging composers for a roundtable discussion about strategies and challenges we may encounter as we work to build our careers. Hosted by Jerome Leroy, an alumni composer in Los Angeles dedicated to supporting composers new to the area, this group will serve as a resource for composers new to the LA area.
These roundtables will be hosted monthly, fairly informally, at his office in West LA convening a small group of different folks each month, to keep it intimate and low-key. The goal is to encourage personal, honest, and direct discussions between all participants: we can all learn from our friends and colleagues—everyone has a different story to tell.
To participate, there are only two rules:
1) You must be a Berklee alumni (graduate or not) who “recently" moved to LA (within three years);
2) This is a roundtable: be ready and willing to share your own experience and ask questions.
Please note: priority will be given to alumni who have not attended this roundtable before. Event location is in West LA; exact location information will be confirmed prior to event. If you have any questions about attending, email Zack Lucia at email@example.com.
About Jerome: My name is Jerome Leroy and I’m a Berklee ’05 grad. I’ve lived in Los Angeles for more than a decade. In the past few years, I’ve been thinking about ways I could use that experience to help recent Berklee alumni find their footing in this crazy, weird, scary, yet exciting industry. I’ve often met with many current and former students and I’ve heard firsthand their many questions and anxieties. Where to move, how to find a job, what gear to get, what software to know, what skills to focus on, how to network, which steps to take next… there’s a wide-range of topics and it’s sometimes hard to figure out where to start! I also want to bring up topics that don't get covered enough, such as staying motivated, happy, and healthy: what I believe to be the essential foundation to create and sustain a rich and fulfilling life anywhere, but maybe even more so in this industry.www.jeromeleroy.com
